The “TÜBİTAK 2209-A Project Workshop and Sector Talk Event” was organized through the cooperation of Bartın Vocational School and the Kurucaşile District Directorate of National Education by the Departments of Transportation Services and Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies.

The opening speeches of the event, held at the Kurucaşile Primary School Conference Hall, were delivered by Kurucaşile Mayor Uğur Güneş, Kurucaşile District Director of National Education Engin Köstekçi, and Lecturer Necati Yıldız on behalf of the Director of Bartın Vocational School. The program was moderated by Lecturer İrem Bebek.

During the event, the historical development, structural characteristics, production processes, and economic contributions of the traditional “çektirme” boats—one of the significant maritime heritages of the Black Sea Region—were discussed in detail.

As part of the event, a workshop conducted within the scope of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) 2209-A project supervised by Lecturer İrem Bebek provided participants with information about the historical background of çektirme boats, the culture of craftsmanship, and traditional production methods. The importance of field studies carried out within the project, including interviews with master craftsmen experienced in the production of çektirme boats in Kurucaşile, was also emphasized.

In the sector talk section of the program, master builders of çektirme boats and sailboat captains working in wooden boat manufacturing shared their knowledge and experiences with students. Discussions focused on traditional wooden boat production, maritime culture, sectoral experiences, and professional development processes.

The event attracted significant interest from both high school and university students and aimed to combine academic knowledge with field experience while raising awareness of the region’s maritime culture.

At the end of the event, certificates of appreciation were presented to the speakers.
