Public Relations Students Drew Attention to Peer Bullying at Gazi Secondary School
Bartın University Public Relations Department students carried out a meaningful project that reveals their social sensitivity. Within the scope of the social responsibility project called "A Society Without Bullies", students organized an event at Bartın Gazi Secondary School and came together with secondary school students. At the event, it was emphasized what peer bullying is and the importance of being more respectful and loving individuals towards our environment.
The students communicated with the little ones at Gazi Secondary School by playing enjoyable and educational games. In the striking part of the event, two different bags were prepared. The first bag contained positive and constructive words, while the second bag contained bullying statements. The students were shown words that represented their bully state, explained the importance of staying away from such behavior, and then symbolically torn the papers on which these words were written.
At the end of the event, badges prepared by our public relations program students with the words "Stop Bullying!" were presented to the students of Gazi Secondary School. With this meaningful gift, it was aimed to raise awareness of students against peer bullying and to be sensitive about it. While the project revealed the sensitivity and solution-oriented approaches of university students to social problems, it contributed to the growth of future adults as more conscious and empathetic individuals.
Project Advisor Asst. Prof. Prof. Özkan Avcı said, "Our aim was to raise awareness about peer bullying in our children, who are the guarantee of our future, and to show them that they can communicate more lovingly. We were very happy with the interest and participation of our students at Gazi Secondary School in the event. I believe that we were able to convey the message of 'Stop Bullying!' to them and I would like to thank our public relations students who realized the project."
Bartın Gazi Secondary School officials, on the other hand, thanked the students of Bartın University for this meaningful and educational event and stated that they will continue to support all kinds of positive social responsibility projects as a school.
