Emotional Intelligence Discussed at BVS
The first of the events held within the scope of our Bartın Vocational School Communication Seminars started with Prof. Dr. Gülay Öztürk's seminar which titled "Why Emotional Intelligence Matters", Head of the Department of Public Relations and Advertising at the Faculty of Communication at Istanbul Commerce University.In the event with intense participation, Öztürk mentioned the importance of emotional intelligence in business life. Stating that emotional intelligence has the capacity to understand and manage our emotions, Öztürk said that emotions are the most important element that ensures the survival of human beings in the history of humanity. Emphasizing that trainings for emotional intelligence are also very important in the personal development of the individual, Öztürk said that emotional intelligence courses should be included in the education curriculum starting from primary school.
Stating that high emotional intelligence improves empathy, Öztürk said, “The thing that distinguishes leaders from others is their emotional intelligence level. Businesses today have a growing graph of mobbing cases. Emotional intelligence of managers is of great importance in the fight against mobbing. For this reason, emotional intelligence should be measured in the recruitment of human resources.
