


Digital Support for Seniors from our Public Relations Students
Bartın University Marketing and Advertising Department Public Relations and Publicity Program students participated in Bartın 75. Yıl organized an event called "Safe and Effective Media Use for the Elderly" at the Nursing Home. The project aimed to find solutions to the challenges faced by elderly individuals in the digital world and to improve their technology usage skills.
The students trained nursing home residents on how to use digital tools such as smartphones, tablets, and the internet. In the training, attention was drawn to important issues such as safe internet use, protection of personal information and online fraud. Guidance was also provided for the elderly to use systems such as e-government applications and online banking more easily.
Student İrem Nur Alaca, who is the project coordinator, said, "In order for our elderly to be more active and safe in the digital world, our project consultant Assist. We implemented this project under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Özkan Avcı and with the valuable contributions of my classmate Aslı Hilal Ceryan. We were very happy with the seniors' determination to learn and interest in technology. I would also like to thank the nursing home officials who supported us in realizing the project." The 75th Year Nursing Home officials also expressed their gratitude for this meaningful work of the students.
At the end of the event, informative materials on digital safety and effective media use were distributed to the elderly.
