The 13th meeting of the 2025 session of the Senate of Bartın University was held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kurucaşile Campus of Bartın Vocational School, under the chairmanship of the Rector, Ahmet Akkaya. Following the discussion of the Senate agenda, the University Executive Board meeting was also held at the same campus.

These meetings, reflecting our university’s vision of increasing the importance and visibility of its different campuses, stood as a concrete indication of Rector Akkaya’s commitment to Kurucaşile.

After the meetings, Rector Akkaya and the senate members attended an event organized within the scope of Bartın University (BARÜ) Science Café Talks, where a discussion was held on the tradition of wooden boat building in Kurucaşile, which has continued from the Ottoman period to the present day.

During the event, the Governor of Bartın, the Rector of Bartın University, and the Mayor of Bartın each delivered speeches, sharing their evaluations on Kurucaşile’s cultural heritage and future. The program also included a Q&A session, allowing for interactive discussions and exchange of ideas among participants.

Following the talk, Rector Akkaya met with students, engaging in friendly conversations and extending his best wishes for their success. This gathering, held in a sincere atmosphere, reinforced the importance of our campus in the educational life of the university.

As the Bartın University family, we extend our gratitude to Rector Ahmet Akkaya for the importance and sensitivity he has shown toward the Kurucaşile Campus. These meaningful visits and events once again highlighted the value placed on our university’s different units and its vision of contributing to society.
